Williams Landing Reserve Construction Begins
Construction of a $3.8 million sports pavilion as part of a new sporting hub in Williams Landing has officially begun.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Peter Maynard, and Minister for Local Government, Marlene Kairouz, kicked off the construction of the Williams Landing Boulevard Reserve pavilion with an official sod turning today.
Cr Maynard said he was excited to see the project get underway.
“The Williams Landing Boulevard Reserve is a major project that will create a space where this growing community can come together and engage in healthy activities,” Cr Maynard said.
“When complete the reserve will include two flexible ovals that will be able to accommodate multiple sports, six tennis courts, a children’s playground, a basketball half-court and cricket nets.”
“This new pavilion is the final piece of the puzzle and will include a community meeting space, change rooms, a kitchen, a first aid room and umpires’ rooms.”
“Wyndham is a sporting community and I’m sure these great new facilities will be put to good use by our local families.”
“The construction of this pavilion was made possible by a $1.9 million grant as part of the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund, and we thank them for their investment in our community.”
The Williams Landing Boulevard Reserve is expected to be completed in February 2019 and will cost a total of $9.5 million.
